Join us for an Inka Ceremony for a new JDPSN!

In-person at Providence Zen Center
Inka Ceremony, Buddha’s Enlightenment Day Ceremony, & Precepts Ceremony to be broadcast on Zoom.

Celebrate with us at our sangha day, held at Providence Zen Center.

The events start Friday night with a Sing-a-Long hosted by Matthew Keeler JDPSN. Bring your instruments and your kids! Chords and lyrics will be shown on the big screen.

On Saturday, we’ll have Buddha’s Enlightenment Ceremony and an Inka Ceremony in the morning, a lunch celebration, and then a Precepts Ceremony in the afternoon.

Come join us as we continue our tradition and take part in the Inka Ceremony to celebrate a new Ji Do Poep Sa Nim (JDPSN) being given permission to teach. During the Inka ceremony the new Zen Teacher will do a short Dharma exchange, give a formal Dharma talk, and become a successor in Zen Master Seung Sahn’s lineage. Please bring questions for Dharma combat with the new JDPSN!

Saturday night there is a Conscious Dance immediately following evening practice. DJ Mystical Michael will be our host. Show up and move as the music takes you!

Ceremonies will be broadcast on Zoom. The Precepts Ceremony will be in-person only (with broadcast on Zoom).

1:45pm: New Dharma Teacher Robe Distribution

2:00pm: Five Preceptees meeting for those taking five precepts, and those who want to learn more.
Location: Peace Pagoda

2:00pm: Dharma Teacher-in-Training welcome meeting. All Dharma teachers and DTiTs invited to attend.

***3:00pm: Precepts Ceremony***

6:30pm: Chanting: Special Chanting
Location: Main Dharma Room

~7:15pm: Conscious Dance led by DJ Mystical Michael
Location: Main Dharma Room

Conscious dance encourages people to explore movement freely in a non-judgmental and non-verbal space. No skills necessary, just be present, listen to your body and let go of your ego. All ages welcome!
