Membership Strengthens Our Sangha and Zen Practice

Membership in the Kwan Um School of Zen Americas supports the efforts of thousands of practitioners throughout North, Central, and South America, the Zen center or sitting group you practice with, and your own practice.

Membership benefits also include discounts* on retreats and programs, a subscription to Primary Point magazine, the School’s full color teaching journal published three times per year, and consideration for need-based travel grants and retreat scholarships to select long retreats.

50% of your member dues go directly to your affiliated Zen Center or Group.

To become a member and pay by credit card, click the button to fill out the New and Returning Membership Sign-up Form and make your first dues payment. You will be taken to a secure payment site after successful submission of the form. Returning or renewing members please use this form also.

For your convenience, we can charge your card automatically by the month, quarter, or pledge year. Simply check your schedule preference on the credit card payment form when you submit your first payment. You may also elect to be billed quarterly by mail.

 

Membership Dues in the Kwan Um School of Zen | Americas for 2024 are:

  • Individual Membership: $360 per year (also payable by installments of $90 per quarter)

  • Family Membership: $480 per year (also payable by installments of $120 per quarter)
    (includes 2 adults and 2 household family members to age 26. No limit on minor children)

  • Full-time Students or Seniors 65+ Discounted Membership: $240 per year (also payable by installments of $60 per quarter)

If you are a Dharma Teacher, or Dharma Teacher-in-training, there are additional Dharma Teacher dues of $180 per year.

To become a member and pay dues by check, print out this form . Mail the completed form with check to the office at the address below. We send Membership Dues Statements on a quarterly basis. For your own protection, please do not submit credit card information by email.

*Members are eligible for discounts after one paid quarter (3 consecutive calendar months) of membership dues.

Membership in the Kwan Um School of Zen | Americas is an ongoing commitment. If you would like to cancel your membership, please let us know by contacting the office at membership@kwanumzen.org or through our contact page.

 

All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The Kwan Um School of Zen is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.

Refund Policy:

- Donations made by credit card are not refundable.

- Guest fees for sangha events, paid by credit card, are fully refundable up to one week before the event. After that, no refunds can be offered.

- Membership and dharma teacher dues, paid by credit card, are fully refundable for 15 days after payment. After 15 days have passed, no refunds can be offered.

- Precepts Materials, once received, are not returnable or refundable.
