Buddha’s Enlightenment Day
The Zen tradition arose with the Buddha’s enlightenment over 2,000 years ago. We recognize his attainment every December with a day of formal talks and a precepts ceremony. Please join us for this celebration of the human spirit.

Dharma Teacher Weekend
Every autumn, dharma teachers come from around the world join together for a weekend of training, discussion, and sharing. These weekends help us sustain the vitality and depth of our teaching tradition.

Founder’s Day Weekend
Founder’s Day celebrates the legacy of Zen Master Seung Sahn, our founding teacher. This two-day event includes the annual town hall meeting where members can discuss issues facing the School.

Summer Kyol Che
In the Buddha’s time, followers would gather together for intensive practice during the three-month monsoon season. The Kwan Um School honors this tradition with our summer and winter Kyol Che retreats.

Buddha’s Birthday Weekend
Please come to the Providence Zen Center to celebrate Buddha's Birthday and the conclusion of winter Kyol Che at the Diamond Hill Zen Monastery.
If you plan to overnight 1 or 2 nights, or just come for the day, please register using the link below. Knowing beforehand who is coming, and when, allows us to plan our meals and prepare overnight accommodations. When you register you'll be able to volunteer to help prepare meals and set up the ceremonies.
If you wish to stay a little longer and overnight here on Sunday night, you can now reserve a room when you register for the sangha weekend.
If you would like to take precepts on Sunday morning, please visit here to apply. The deadline to apply for this precepts ceremony is Friday March 9.
On Saturday evening, we will be entertained by The Lucky Band, a 4 piece group who plays jazz, folk, and blues. Be sure to bring your dancing socks!
